Sooty is a glove puppet bear created by Harry Corbett in 1948. The children's television show that bears his name has continued in various forms since the 1950s and, according to Guinness World Records, is the longest-running children's programme in the UK.

Originally completely yellow, Corbett covered his ears and nose with soot so that he would show up better on black and white television sets - hence the puppet's name! He would later be joined by other puppet characters Sweep and Soo. Sooty is mute to the audience, but can communicate with other characters by whispering in their ears. The television programme has been presented by Richard Cadell since 1998 and he bought all the rights to the brand in 2008.

The current show has been running since 2011 on CITV and now we can finally bring you some adorable Sooty toys. Both Sooty and Sweep are available as 9" glove puppets in super soft plush fabric, so children can now create their own stories and adventures or reenact their favourite episodes. You can also get them both for less in this set which includes Sooty's magic wand as well. Sooty is also available with his own puppeteer box, wand and water gun here.
